The Activities Department at the Rouse Home offers a diverse variety of approaches to enhance the quality of life of our residents. Daily activities are designed to promote the physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual well being of each person as well as continuing a community connection. Our resident’s may be found playing and participating in bingo, cards, trivia, cooking, baking, reminiscing, enjoying a music special, pet visits, singing, watching movies, playing in a rhythm band, gardening, or heading out on a trip to a local favorite restaurant, just to name a few! Another unique opportunity is the Rouse Estate Children’s Center which allows for constant contact with children and intergenerational activities happen almost daily throughout the week.
The Activities Dept. is under the direction of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) along with activity aides offering years of experience. A weekly and daily activity schedule is developed and designed to meet each resident’s leisure/social needs including planned group activities (small & large) and social contact visits. The Activities Dept. works closely with the interdisciplinary team and the care planning process, focusing on what the resident CAN do and adapting activities to their abilities.
