How to Enter
Each entrant may submit up to 2 original 2D works of art in any media. There will be a $10 fee per piece.

Registration
Entries will be accepted on Sunday, September 21st,10am-4pm at the Rouse Home foyer. All 2-D work must be framed and ready to hang . Works should not exceed 72” in any dimension nor weigh more than 100 lbs. The Rouse Home agrees to take reasonable care of the artwork but will not be held responsible for damage or loss.
Each work should be labeled on the back or bottom of each piece and be accompanied by the corresponding list. Artist should indicate whether artwork is for sale, or NFS. If it is for sale, please indicate the retail price. Not for sale art will be excluded from the selecton process for the purchase award .
Judging
Notification of acceptance or rejection will be made by phone to each entrant upon completion of judging. Rejected pieces must be picked up by September 28th or be subject to a storage fee.
Opening and Reception
An opening reception for the show will be held on Friday, October 3, from 5:30 to 8:00 PM and is open to the public. Work accepted for the show may not be picked up until after the show closes. All unsold work must be picked up between October 19th-25th, Mon-Fri 8:00AM-7:00PM and Sat & Sun 11:00AM-7:00PM. If the work is sold, the artist will be paid 70% of that price and the Henry Rouse Gallery will retain 30%. Artists will be paid within 30 days of the close of the show.
Juror
John Vanco
John Vanco is Director and Curator of the Erie Art Museum. Since 1968 he has organized over 400 exhibitions. His
current project is an exhibition of commercial textiles from East Africa. Other recent projects include Ancient Alloy:
Bronzes from the Museum Collection (2008); Charting A Century of Change: 19th Century French Drawings and
Sculpture from the Diamond Collection (2006); Eva Zeisel: The Shape of Life (2005) (the most extensive survey
exhibition of Zeisel’s work to date); Archaeology at the Dawn of History (2002) (a didactic exhibition on the processes
and methods of archaeology utilizing material from Khirbet Iskander, an Early Bronze age site in Jordan); and The
Continuous Wave: Electronic Instruments from the Theremin to the Synthesizer (2000). He also curates a Contemporary
Music Series, now in its 26th year, and an annual Blues & Jazz Festival, now in its 16th year. He is a frequent lecturer,
essayist and exhibition juror and has served on advisory panels for the NEA, Meet The Composer, Mid Atlantic Arts
Foundation, and the state arts agencies in PA, NY, OH and MT. He recently completed his second term on the
Pennsylvania Humanities Council and currently serves on the Board of the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums. He
holds a B.A. in art history and history from Allegheny College.
Purchase Award
Purchase Award will be given to the Best of Show, a $200.00 award. First place award $75.00, second place award $50.00, third place $25.00, and honorable mention.
Collection Awards
Collection pieces will be cataloged for patrons of the Rouse to purchase as a memorial gift to the Rouse in honor of a
family member or employee. Collection pieces will be photographed and cataloged for sale. Collection pieces will
remain with artist until sold. Rouse retains 30% of items sold.
Rouse employees and their family members are not able to participate in the juried art show, but may exhibit only.
